Best 5 videos of 2011 voted by the viewers

VOTED BY THE PUBLIC ON BLOG.MUSIC.AOL

1. 'Born This Way,' Lady Gaga
No. 1 on our list ofthe best videos of 2011 so far, this dazzling, Nick Knight-directed video begins with Mother Monster giving birth and wraps with a Day of the Dead-inspired, skull-faced Gaga blowing a gum bubble at the camera. What's going on in between is anyone's guess, but with the combination of the video's awesome, "Thriller"-esque dancingand the pulverizing dance beat, it's hardto, well ...beat.

2. 'E.T.'Katy Perry Feat.Kanye West
Visually stunning, and deserving of the No. 2 spot on our list, -directed 'E.T.' video features an extraterrestrial, shape-shifting Katy Perry who arrives in a junkyard world and awakens another alien -- striking albino male model Shaun Ross, who plays the role of Perry's love interest. For his part, workhorse rapper/producer KanyeWestspits typically well-timed rhymes, contentedly floating in space, butdoesn't get anyalien action.

3. 'I NeedaDoctor,' Dr. Dre
Off his third -- and final -- studio album 'Detox,' this video showsDrein a nostalgic mindset, looking back on his hip-hop past with a montage including footage of N.W.A and ice cube. At one point, Dre dies in the video, but Eminem and newcomer Skyler Grey's angelic voices bring the maestro back to life. Partially a tribute to rapper and N.W.A partner Easy E, who died of AIDSin 1995, the video ends with Dre at his partner's graveside.
4. 'S&M,' Rihanna
Banned in 11 countries and pulled from the all-ages section of YouTube, 'S&M' is Ri-Ri's most controversial video to date. The Bajan diva courts ball-gagged reporters from behind plastic wrapping, walks Perez Hilton around like a dog, gets hog-ti
ed and simulates sex with a blow-up doll. "The song is called 'S&M'!" said Rihanna, defending the video. "I think the imagery follows suit with what the song is. So if they don't want to play it ... watch it somewhere else."
5. '21st Century Girl,' Willow Smith
Just like her dad Wil
l in 'I Am Legend' this pint-sized singer knows how to outlast the future. In this top video of 2011, an old woman is seen traipsing arou
nd a barren desert, searching for clues to the past, when all of a sudden Willow emerges from the depths of the sand. She then joins a gaggle of other modernizers, reaching backthrough the sands of time to resurrect the streets of Los Angeles in the 21st century. Pretty powerful stuff for a 10-year-old, don't you think?

Four BEST music videos

My Four best music videos

Wannabe by the spice girls in one of my personal favourite music videos I think its a good performance video because it isn't a typical performance, they don't spend all there time on a stage, they run around, dancing and singing! The crazy atmosphere and feeling that it gives off always puts the person watching it in a good mood.

Deja vu by Beyonce is also another one of my favourite due to her dancing in this, I feel it relates well with the fast music and the beat.

The script's song the man who can't be moved, is one of my favourtie music videos becuase i love the peformance and narrative story in it, altough he is performing it, he is also acting out the story of waiting for the one he loves. I think it is easy to follow and shows alot of feeling.

Thriller by Michael Jackson is an all time favourite due to the dancing choriographed in it. The dancing is amazig and the lighting of the whole video making it dark and gloomy adds great effeect.

A definition of a music video;

A film or videotaped rendition of a recorded song, often portrayingmusicians performing the song or including visual images interpreting the lyrics.

In the 60's music videos were made by the singer performing behind a projection with moving pictures to make the song its self more interesting to watch.

Top of the Pops, also known as TOTP, is a British music chart television programme made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly from 1 January 1964 to 30 July 2006. It was traditionally shown every Thursday evening on BBC1, before being moved to Fridays in 1996, and then moved to Sundays on BBC Two in 2005. Each weekly programme consisted of performances from some of that week's best-selling popular music artists, with a rundown of that week's singles chart. Additionally, every year there was a special edition of the programme on Christmas Day featuring some of the best-selling singles of the year.

Although the weekly show was cancelled, the Christmas special has continued. It was also survived by Top of the pops two, which began in 1994 and featured vintage performances from the Top of the Pops archives.

In the 1990s, the show's format was sold to several foreign broadcasters in the form of a franchise package, and at one point various versions of the show were shown in nearly 100 countries.

At the moment, a local version of TOTP is still regularly running in Italy on Rai 2.

In 1974 before MTV was made queen had there first video, Bohemian Rhapsody on a music channel, although thinking back now the video wasn't that great, it was four heads and effects it is still well known and talked about now.

The start of MTV music channel;

MTV, is an American network based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981. The original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by on-air hosts known as VJS.

At one time, MTV had a huge impact on the music industry and popular culture. Slogans such as “I want my MTV and MTV is here” became embedded in public thought the concept of the VJ was popularized, the idea of a dedicated video-based out for music was introduced and both artists and fans found a central locastion for music events, news, and promotion. MTV has also been referenced countless times in popular culture by musicians, other TV channels and shows, films and books. Many great musicians such as Rhianna, Jay-z and Lady Gaga help promote MTV.

The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” was the first music video to air on the new cable television channel, which initially was available only to households in parts of New Jersey. MTV went on to revolutionize the music industry and become an influential source of pop culture and entertainment in the United States and other parts of the world, including Europe, Asia and Latin America, which all have MTV-branded channels.

Since that the first song showed on MTV and the fact that MTV made music videos popular.

There are now 32 music channels on sky.

Music video's are becoming more and more popular because more people have a television and music channels now. A music video can help the fan visualize and see there idol, the musician dancing and singing helps the fan to feel like they are actually watching the singer and are there while she/he performs. A music video can also be beneficial to the singer themselves because it helps promote their song and get it out there and known more. It helps the song become more popular, manyt fans and audiences watch the music video and then by the CD or album. MTV have now made more individual channels such as MTV bade, MTV rock and MTV hits to meet the requirements of their audience in the niche market there is today involving music channels.

The most expensive music video made was Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, "scream" that was made in 1995 and cost 7 million dollars in production costs.
